Low Footprint Design and Implementation for ipTV
My final Year project at University was done for a 'live' client (rather than a 'made up client') who wanted a UI for a ipTV box they were producing. The project came through a web company who employed me one day a week while I was at university.
The Job demanded a working TV interface to be created on their proprietary black boxed unit running a bespoke media browser hitting the web for the UI and information.
In designing the the interface I learned a lot about designing for alternative input methods and designing for maximum efficiency because of the limited memory and remote control input methods.
In the end the interface was created using mostly mobile phone grade xhtml, CSS and very few actual raster graphics. Almost all transparency had to be dumped, the Information architecture was quite non standard, but some "Jazzy" elements were saved by some light weight Javascript.
I find this kind of thing very interesting but there are very few chances to work on these kinds of projects. The useful thing to come out of this is now I am confident I could creat a solid mobile interface for a mobile site.
